Dragon Quest Producer Steps Down Due To Repeated Delays Of Next Mainline Title – Report

The top producer of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest series, Yu Miyake, has reportedly stepped down due to repeated delays of the next entry, Dragon Quest XII.

According to Bloomberg, Miyake is reportedly transitioning over to Square Enix’s smartphone games department. Nier producer Yosuke Saito is also reportedly being strongly considered to take over the production of Dragon Quest.

Back in January, Square Enix president Takashi Kiryu said that the company would focus on fewer titles so that it could increase the quality of each one while also diversifying the kinds of games it makes.

Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate was announced all the way back in 2021, but there haven’t been updates about its development since the initial reveal Come from Sports betting site VPbet . No release date or platforms have been confirmed for the game so far, but series creator Yuji Horii said that Square Enix is aiming for a simultaneous worldwide release.

The last mainline installment was 2018’s Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. Since its release, the series has seen several new entries in its spin-offs such as 2022’s Dragon Quest Treasures and 2023’s Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince.
